Trade Arabia reported that the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai has opened 5 more station, Business Bay, First Gulf Bank, Sharaf DG, Nakheel and Jumeirah Lakes Towers on the Red Line of the Metro. With this launch, the total number of operating stations has risen to 26 out of total 29.
Mr Ramadan Abdullah director of the Rail Operations at the RTA said that we will open rest of the three stations in the first quarter of next year.
He said that he expected the number of commuters would increase by 15,000 per day with the opening of new stations.
Mr Abdullah said during his inspection of the newly opened stations that feeder buses to link these stations to the residential areas around the stations have also started operating.
The AED 28 billion Dubai Metro project is 76 kilometers long and consists of 52.1 kilometers of Red Line and 23.9 kilometers of Green Line. The Green Line is expected to be open in August next year.
