Dubai, the extravagant city that already boasts man-made islands and the world’s tallest tower, has revealed plans for a 7.5-mile canal development with water homes and 62 acres of open space for residents and tourists.

With an estimated build cost of £185million ($275million), the Marasi Business Bay project will boast unique homes for the wealthy, floating restaurants and a 15-acre park along the longest promenade in the United Arab Emirates.

State-owned investment company Dubai Holding, whose tourism portfolio includes the Travelodge UK and Jumeirah hotel brands and the Madame Tussauds wax museums, said the self-financed project will be completed by 2023.

Located on an extension of the saltwater Dubai Creek, Marasi Business Bay aims to boost the desert city’s housing, retail and tourism sectors with innovative attractions, although many details still haven’t been revealed.
